March Meter Madness

What goes up must come down! Racers will climb and descend a 19-minute pyramid in quest of the most total meters. Strategy is key. Rate high and fly or go slow with power? Which race plan will get you the most meters? Test your smarts and your stamina to find out!

This event will be conducted ONLINE using the ERGZONE app.
The app is free to download in your mobile app store.

The official start time of this event is 9 am CDT for all live racers!
It will be a controlled/race start for those competing virtually on the ErgZone app. The countdown clock will begin at 8:59 am CDT.

Racers in other time zones may compete at their local time on Sunday, March 17, at 9 am.

The March Meter Madness 19’ Pyramid Challenge:

30 seconds – 1 minute rest
1 minute – 1 minute rest
4 minutes – 1 minute rest
8 minutes – 1 minute rest
4 minutes – 1 minute rest
1 minute – 1 minute rest
30 seconds

MOST TOTAL METERS WINS!

Racers can “row in,” meaning they can start rowing with time left in the 1-minute rest period to get themselves back up to race rate by the time the next piece starts. Use your rest how you see fit, paddle, or stop rowing—your call.

 

Every racer will receive a March Meter Madness collapsible can coolie.

Approximately 2mm thick neoprene will stretch and easily fit standard 12oz cans and bottles.

Every racer will also receive a March Meter Madness UV-protected race decal.

Age Divisions

  • SGGM = Super Great Grand Master > 70

  • GGM = Great Grand Master > 60

  • GM = Grand Master – 50-60

  • M = Master – 27-49

  • O = Open – 20-26

  • JR = Junior – 0-19

Weight Categories

  • Lightweight Women: <= 135lbs (61.5kg)

  • Heavyweight Women: > 135 lbs (61.6kg)

  • Lightweight Men <= 165lbs (75kg)

  • Heavyweight Men > 165lbs (75kg)

Adaptive Categories

  • PR1

  • PR2

  • PR3

RACERS IN OTHER TIME ZONES may compete at their local time on Sunday, March 17 at 9 am, but they MUST submit their results immediately after completing the event at their local time.

COMPETING ON AN OLDER MODEL ERG? If your erg doesn't have a PM5 monitor, you can still compete. You will not be able to participate in live racing, but your score will count in the official results and rankings. Just enter your race time manually and submit a screenshot of your monitor so we can verify your event.

  • Manual Submissions must be entered on Sunday, Mar 17, and have the correct time per your location (9 am CST in Chicago is 3 pm in London) to be counted in the official rankings and be posted on our website.

  • Make sure the date on your monitor is correct! We will only be accepting manual results from monitor screens dated 3-17-2024.

C2 monitor setup for offline racing

Select > New Workout > Intervals Variable > Time > Rest Time > Enter. Add next interval. Repeat this sequence until all time and rest intervals up & down in the pyramid are entered.
